Profile, Focus Areas & Core Capabilities

Executive Summary

Senior AI/ML engineer and aerospace-trained Applied Scientist (PhD, TU Delft) with a track record of identifying high-value business problems and shipping production ML systems that move commercial metrics. At Jumbo Supermarkten, I built and owned ML systems for dynamic pricing, capacity planning, and delivery slot availability that contributed >€2.5M in annual revenue uplift, before moving into a founding-level AI platform role to drive company-wide AI adoption.

Across 8 years of simulation-driven research at TU Delft and enterprise ML in retail, I design, train, and deploy models end-to-end—from curating high-fidelity simulation datasets and running 10,000-run physics campaigns to deploying surrogate models, LLM memory systems, and large-scale operational ML. I work well without a roadmap, take full ownership from idea to deployment, and care deeply about whether what I build creates real-world impact.

TU Delft · Faculty of Aerospace Engineering (2015 – 2023)

Over 8 years at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft, Faculty of Aerospace Engineering — Flight Performance & Propulsion), my research focused on a fundamental question in aircraft development: how can we combine physics-based simulation, Multidisciplinary Design Analysis and Optimisation (MDAO), and surrogate machine learning to radically compress aircraft design cycles and de-risk flight testing?

Supported by the European Clean Sky 2 programme and industry collaborations with GKN Fokker Elmo and Research In Flight (FlightStream), I developed automated simulation campaigns, similarity-maximization algorithms for sub-scale flight test models, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) architectures that cut engineering lead times by 90–95% while maintaining strict physical validation against wind-tunnel and flight-test data.

Clean Sky 2 PhD Flight Physics & MDAO

Similitude Augmentation & Sub-Scale Flight Testing

Geometrically scaled aircraft suffer from Reynolds and Mach number mismatches that distort aerodynamic and flight-dynamic behaviour. I formulated the Degree of Similitude (DoS) metric and an MDAO-based 'Similitude Augmentation' methodology that intentionally tailors wing and control-surface geometry so sub-scale models replicate full-scale stability and control characteristics.

Degree of Similitude (DoS) Dynamic Scaling Laws 6-DOF Flight Dynamics Wind-Tunnel & Flight Validation
95% Cost Reduction 5,000–10,000 CFD Evaluations

Surrogate Modelling & High-Throughput CFD Campaigns

Designed and executed automated simulation campaigns spanning 5,000 to 10,000 physics evaluations across 40–60 design variables. Coupled panel methods, vortex-lattice solvers, viscous-inviscid coupling, FlightStream surface-vorticity solvers, and OpenFOAM/ANSYS workflows with ML surrogate models that generalise physical behaviour to unseen aircraft configurations.

MBSE, Knowledge-Based Engineering & Digital Twins

Pioneered a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) framework using SysML to formalise engineering knowledge and automatically generate Knowledge-Based Engineering (KBE) workflows—eliminating manual CAD/CAE bottlenecks and providing the structured system backbone for aerospace digital twins and multi-physics pipelines.
